Children's Code of Conduct

The CCC is a charitable organisation run by volunteers in their spare time for the children’s benefit, to nurture their passion and enjoyment of competitive chess. In the interest of all participants, the following provisional guidelines have been established.

  • Children must be silent at all times in the playing hall

  • Children may not communicate non-verbally with other children in the playing hall

  • Children who arrive before the matches begin should help set up pieces and clocks in preparation for the matches

  • As soon as their game has finished, players must alert an Adjudicator to the result

  • Children must set the pieces to their starting position after each game

  • Children must leave the hall immediately after reporting the result of their game

  • Children may not re-enter the playing hall after leaving: they must remain in a designated classroom and not wander around the premises

  • In the event of a dispute, children must raise their hands and wait for an adjudicator to approach their table

  • Children must accept that the Adjudicators' decisions are final

  • Children who repeatedly break rules may be given a warning at the discretion of the Adjudicators

  • Children who continue to offend after being issued with a warning may forfeit their game at the discretion of the Adjudicators
